WAKO
W.A.K.O (We Are Killing Ourselves) were born in 2001 in Almeirim, Portugal, when a circle of friends with similar musical influences, set out to create their own brand of storming metal music. The first demo was ‘Outrage’ was recorded in 2002 and since then, the band has reached a wider audience and has been able to establish a great relationship with those who have become the bands followers.
By 2004 W.A.K.O recorded an independent EP by the name of Symbiotic Existence, produced by Daniel Cardoso (ex-SiriuS, ex-Re:aKtor, Head Control System). Then began a new crusade on the Portuguese music landscape. With four years of existence and over 150 live performances, sharing stages with (Hed)pe, Ramp, Dagoba,Moonspell and participating in many summer festivals throughout the country, W.A.K.O have become recognized and respected as one the hardest working bands in Portugal.
The band took some time off to reflect and start recording their debut album at Ultrasound Studios with Daniel Cardoso. The partnership with Daniel Cardoso has been successful over the years and culminated in a 2007's “Deconstructive Essence” album. The band display a fine tuned metal machine of raucous and raw intensity, and with a polished production and heavy live work schedule ahead they are destined for an audience far outreaching the borders of their homeland. Summer tour planned across Europe including the UK. Along with this changes the band sign a 2 year contract with the independent Casket Music and Deconstructive Essence is released Worldwide in next August 27th 2007.
