Name: Doktor Shredd
Location: Cornfields of Illinois
Influences: Dimebag Darrell ! / Zakk Wylde / Jason Becker / Randy Rhoads
About me: Ive played guitar for 19 years, since age 3. I love music with balls! (Pantera). I appreciate classical shred and its technicalities but its not really my style anymore(altho it used to be). Dime and Zakk turned me onto pentatonic shredding. After watching like every single Dimebag video on youtube
and listening to his music, he has taught me that music is about feel and not so much about technical ability...playing fast does sound kool, but its just notes if you dont
add the feeling to it.. (but i do love to play fast). I hope you can see that I am feeling it in my video =). Decided not to show off too much to the point where its all sweep picking arpeggios if you catch my drift. I like to play music that (most) everyone can enjoy!
Equip: I am using an epiphone 1970 electric with a 15 watt 'fx' practice amp (from a beginner guitar set), both of which i borrowed to make the video. I own a Dean acoustic guitar that I practice on and I've always wanted a Dean electric because my fingers get pretty beat up from bending the acoustic strings. The only effect I used on the video was the overdive on the amp. If I had any more effects to choose from to make the video I wouldnt have used them because I want you to be able to tell if I play cleanly. I also decided not to play with a backing track so you can hear the guitar sing and so you can hear my mistakes. Not hiding anything here!
Dime Quote: "The greatest moments of guitar playin and singin is to hear somebodys fuckin pipes screamin, tryin to get to that fuckin note.. and you can hear the rage in it! Or overshootin a note, its like overexcited, man. That is fuckin emotion. That is alive human being." "Let it fuckin all hang out." - Dimebag Darrell
